Backflow preventer BA protects the potable water installation against backflow, backpressure or backsiphonage of water. The backflow preventer SYR BA contains all the components specified in DIN EN 1717 and, as a three-chamber system, is equipped with a controllable front, middle and rear pressure zone.

The backflow preventer is composed of 2 consecutive check valves with an intermediate pressure zone that can be vented to the atmosphere. When no water is drawn off, both check valves are open and the discharge valve is closed. In case of back-siphonage, the inlet pressure drops. The discharge valve opens at the latest when the differential pressure between upstream and intermediate pressure zone has dropped to 0.14 bar.

Easy maintenance
With a simple hand movement, the differential pressure-controlled safety cartridge and the built-in dirt trap can be replaced. The ball valves of the three pressure zones make it possible to perform a functional test of the valve with the appropriate measuring instruments.

• equipment for softening / de-acidification, formalin disinfection (dialysis)
• sterilizers for carcinogenic material
• gas generators (eg acetone)

Inappropriate installations:

• rooms with the possibility of flooding
• frost
• high temperatures
• may only be installed if the amount of any return flow does not exceed the waste discharge capacity of the safety device
