ExBox – Variants and Compatibility with Actuators

The ExBox is a safety terminal box designed for use between safe environments and explosive hazard areas (zones 1, 2, 21, 22). It serves to safely connect electrical systems and must be used in accordance with ATEX standards to minimize the risk of explosion initiation.

ExBox Variants and Compatible Actuators:

• ExBox-3P

  • Compatibility: Actuators ExMax... and ExMax...-F with open-close function and three-point control
  • Description: Basic version of the terminal box for simple actuator control

• ExBox-Y/S

  • Compatibility: Actuators ExMax...-Y with continuous control (0–10 V / 4–20 mA) or ExMax...-S with integrated auxiliary switches
  • Description: Extended variant for advanced actuator control

• ExBox-BF

  • Compatibility: Actuators ExMax...-BF with safety stop and temperature sensor
  • Description: Special version allowing rapid safety shutdown of the system

• ExBox-3P/SW, ExBox-Y/S/SW, ExBox-BF/SW

  • Compatibility: The mentioned variants with ExSwitch
  • Description: Adapted for connection of an auxiliary switch, enabling additional control functions

• ExSwitch is an external auxiliary switch designed for use in explosive hazard environments. It contains two potential-free contacts that can be individually set to switch at desired actuator positions. This flexibility allows precise adjustment of switching points to specific application requirements. ExSwitch is compatible with ExMax series actuators of sizes S and M and is supplied with approximately 1 meter long cable for each switch.
