Dear, the pump can flow water even if it is switched off, but it is not designed for this purpose or tested. If you are concerned about the return flow, I recommend you to buy a variant of the pump with a shut-off valve, e.g. this one https://www.bolasystems.com/grundfos-comfort-15-14bx-circulating-pump-97916772 Yes the pump is designed for a system with ethylene glycol overmix, but the maximum concentration of this mixture must be observed.
