Electronic (turbine) heat meters

They are based on a rotary rotor with blades. The rotor is driven by the fluid flow, the speed being proportional to the fluid flow rate. The speed is usually measured by a non-contact inductive sensor, where voltage pulses are the output, that are further processed and evaluated.

Advantages: low purchase cost, wide range of flow rates possible to be measured, reproducibility of measurements and short-term accuracy

Disadvantages: higher pressure losses, necessary disassembly when flushing the system
