Installation of Siemens Connected Home Smart Radiator Heating

Smart heating Siemens Connected Home is designed to make life easier for users while helping to achieve more economical and environmentally friendly heating. To make your purchase even more pleasant, we have prepared affordable sets, where you will find everything you need for smart radiator heating with just a few clicks. The installation and setup of the Siemens Connected Home system is as easy as its purchase. The entire process is intuitive and the application guides you through each step, plus Siemens has created a series of video tutorials, which are in English but with the option of Czech subtitles.

Advantages of installing Siemens Connected Home:

  • Connect the ZigBee router to the internet for remote control of heating via mobile and for managing the system from one place
  • Connected Home is not just a WiFi thermostat: smart radiator heads and the switching unit actively participate in zonal regulation
  • Component communication occurs wirelessly using the ZigBee 3.0 protocol (no structural modifications are needed)
  • Individual components can be controlled separately, or grouped into up to 12 zones
  • From one application, you can control other smart devices not only for smart heating. In 2023, Siemens will launch additional smart home components: smart sockets, thermostats, presence sensors, door sensors, and water leak detectors.

Zonal regulation of radiators

First Step: Connected Home Application

First, download the Connected Home application from Siemens AG from Google Play for Android or App Store for iOS and install it on your smartphone or tablet. Open it and first create your account and then your home profile. If you prefer local heating control from home, the best option is to get a tablet that you place within reach of the ZigBee router.

Second Step: Connecting the Application and ZigBee Router

Plug the ZigBee router into a socket. In the application, open the home settings, where the router connection option is available. Set the time zone and choose the method for connecting the router to the internet (WLAN for WiFi connection, or Ethernet for cable connection). The application will guide you through each step for the correct setup of both options.

Third Step: Creating Rooms (Zones)

Once the ZigBee router is operational, you can immediately start adding individual smart devices (see the following steps), or first create zones (rooms). You create a room by simply clicking on add new room in the home profile. You can then name it as you wish, edit the picture, and add smart heating components.

Fourth Step: Installing Radiator Heads

Radiator heads are paired in the application under the home profile or selected room. The connection is quick, and if necessary, you can reset the head to factory settings and reconnect it at any time. The application will again guide you through each step from inserting the batteries to the actual installation on the radiator: unscrew the original radiator thermostat head and screw on the new one. Siemens Connected Home smart heads have M30x1.5 connection thread, so an adapter is needed for other types of valves. The package also includes an adapter for Danfoss RA valves.

Fifth Step: Connecting the Switching Unit

First, plug the relay switching unit into a socket. Under the home profile or specific room, select add device and choose what the switching unit should serve: as a ZigBee signal repeater, for switching the heat source, or for switching the heat source and simultaneously controlling the hot water source. The application will again guide you through each step, and again, if necessary, the unit can be reset to factory settings and reconnected. It connects to the water heating device and the heat source via output relay on the back of the unit.

Further Settings

The application is used for managing the entire heating and you can add and adjust heating settings anytime and from anywhere. One household can be controlled by multiple users: another household member just downloads the app, creates an account, and connects to the household via a QR code. Siemens Connected Home smart heating allows the creation of time schedules, modes (night, when you are not home, etc.) and other functions, which you can again set directly in the Connected Home application.

And that's it! Now you can fully enjoy your smart heating. And if you still need advice, contact our specialists
