Pumps for Aggressive Media and Sewage

Due to changes in legislation, it is no longer possible to connect a property to a septic tank and have it regularly emptied if a wastewater treatment plant has been built in the municipality. In cases where gravity drainage is not feasible, pumps for aggressive media and sewage are suitable for connecting the existing waste system to the municipal one.

Pumps for sewage and aggressive media are fundamentally similar to durable sludge pumps. However, they are always equipped with an integrated cutting device that chops incoming waste and facilitates its passage through the pump and discharge into the municipal sewer system.

Sewage pumps are usually installed in a tank outside the property and supplemented with control electronics. Assemblies containing this type of pump are an easy and viable solution in places where it is not possible to connect the sewer pipe by gravity due to distance or height difference, and therefore a pressure sewer system must be used.

The term aggressive media refers to wastewater including washing and cleaning agents, pool water, sewage, and other wastewater. In our offer, you will find not only pumps for aggressive media but also their accessories and control systems, as well as complete pumping sets containing a shaft, pump, and control box.

For pumping sewage water inside a property - for example, when installing a toilet below the sewer level - a pumping station is suitable.

How to Choose Pumps for Aggressive Media and Sewage?

When selecting a pump, the following parameters must be considered:

  • Pump performance: The individual pumps in our offer differ in performance, which, like other pumps, is expressed by the amount of liquid pumped over a given period and discharge height. Our offer includes sets for industrial facilities as well as residential homes.
  • Power supply: Pumps for aggressive media and sewage are manufactured with single-phase 230V or three-phase 400V power supply. The most common use is in combination with a tank and control unit.
  • Ability for continuous operation: Most standard sludge pumps are not designed for continuous operation. However, this is usually not the case with quality pumps for sewer water drainage.
  • Equipped with a grinding device: The pump includes a traction cutting device with an internal blade, capable of handling long fibers. For pumping sewage, this is required by standard EN 12050-1.
  • Pump construction: Quality pumps for aggressive media are usually equipped with an oil seal chamber that prevents media from entering the motor. It is also important to consider the pump material and the degree of protection against external influences.
  • Pump control system: Many pumps require additional equipment with a control system and float sensor. However, we also offer fully automatic products with the Autoadapt system. In this case, the sensor and control system are part of the pump.
  • Volume and material of the tank or pumping reservoir: The shafts in our offer are usually made of durable plastic and are standardly equipped with fittings and ready for use.

How to Install a Pumping Shaft with a Pump?

First, it is necessary to choose a suitable location for the tank installation. All household waste will then be directed into it. The pump placed inside the container will then pump the sewage into the municipal sewer system. The assembly is essentially a new replacement for septic tanks. In cases where there is a treatment plant in the municipality, the house must be connected to the municipal sewer system. Properties can no longer be connected to a septic tank, which was previously emptied by sewage trucks.

Can I Use a Standard Sludge Pump?

We also encounter cases where the assembly for aggressive media and sewage is replaced by a standard plastic tank and a cheap sludge pump. The main advantage is the lower price, yet we do not recommend this solution for long-term reliable operation. A standard sludge pump is not equipped with a cutting device, so it is necessary to be careful about what gets into the waste. Otherwise, the pump will be regularly blocked and, in extreme cases, even destroyed.
