This case study compares a system controlled according to room demand with Danfoss Icon2™ with a system controlled by ECL weather-compensated regulation. The testing was conducted in 2023 by Danfoss.
ECL weather-compensated regulation controls the temperature of the heating water using a heating curve (between 38 and 44 °C). Room heating is controlled by standard room thermostats for a testing period of 60 hours.
Danfoss ICON controls the flow temperature according to room demand (between 38 and 44 °C). Room heating is controlled by Danfoss ICON 24V room thermostats (self-learning and automatic balancing enabled) for a testing period of 60 hours.
Total energy savings of the system controlled according to room demand with Danfoss Icon2™ compared to the system controlled with ECL weather-compensated regulation is 22.6%.
Time without Heating | Ø Temperature Delta | Ø Return Temperature | Overheating | Energy Consumption (60h) | Energy Consumption (24h) | |
ECL Weather-Compensated Regulation | 6.00 % | 8.7K | 28.5°C | 1.5-2K | 61 kWh | 24.4 kWh |
Danfoss Icon2™ | 40.00 % | 11.4K | 27.2°C | 0.2K | 47.2 kWh | 18.8 kWh |
