Optical detectors from the Regin SDD series are suitable for installation in ducts, pipes, and ventilation systems. They meet all the requirements for fire alarm installations. Optical type detectors respond to visible smoke particles. They operate on the principle of light reflection from smoke particles entering the detector chamber. An infrared LED illuminates the space in front of it, where the air flows. When smoke particles enter, the light is reflected and scattered throughout the chamber, where it is detected by a phototransistor, which then triggers the alarm. A Venturi tube with a length of 540 mm is supplied with the detectors, which can be shortened to the desired length. A viewing window on the detector cover allows a view of the flow indicator and the warning red LED signal. This lights up in the event of a fire alarm.
