Rubber compensators (sometimes also referred to as "pipe compensators") are flexible pipe elements that enhance its resistance to temperature changes and water hammer. Due to thermal changes in the pipe and the surrounding environment, the pipe may lengthen, shorten, laterally deflect, or twist, which stresses not only the pipe and supports but especially the joints. Rubber compensators protect the pipe from damage due to thermal stress and dampen vibrations and noises caused by pipe operation.
Rubber compensators are suitable for use in heating systems, air conditioning, drinking water, compressed air, and other industrial and agricultural applications. When selecting them, it is important to consider the operating medium and account for the extension of the compensator due to pressure in the pipe. Connection to the piping system can be made via thread or flange.
