Thermostatic heads 2080fl are mounted on the bodies of thermostatic radiator valves (TRV). In combination with TRV, they regulate room temperature by adjusting the flow of heating water into heating surfaces. TRVs are installed in heating water systems at the inlet or (less commonly) at the outlet of radiators or other heating systems.

Together with specially designed valves, thermostatic heads are sometimes used in cooling water systems to regulate individual cooling circuits. Thermostats of this type comply with the European standard EN 215 when used with certain types of TRV. Thermostats of this type with M30 × 1.5 connection threads are suitable for all Honeywell TRV bodies and radiator inlets, all Honeywell series M valves, and also for all other TRVs and radiator inlets with M30 × 1.5 threads and a pitch of 11.5 mm.
