It is designed for use with pressure-independent control valves (PICV) type AB-QM DN10-32. The actuator can be controlled via an on/off controller. The actuator is designed for controlling hot or chilled water in fan coil units, small reheaters, and coolers in temperature control systems.

The actuator operates on the principle of thermal expansion, which moves the valve stem depending on the heating. The NC (normally closed) model has the stem extended in the inactive state, while the NO (normally open) model has the stem retracted. Upon activation, the valve opens or closes in approximately 1.5 minutes, depending on the type of actuator.
