The history of the Swiss company began in 1910, when Fritz Sauter manufactured switch clocks for controlling street lighting in Grindelwald. During the First World War, the company developed an electric boiler, and at the founder's initiative, a department for thermal equipment was established.

By 1935, when the company SAUTER was already based in Basel, the beginnings of its current business were dated. The first control technologies for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning were being produced.

Today, SAUTER is among the leading providers of solutions in building and room automation, energy, and facility management. In the market for measuring and regulation technology, control systems, control valves and actuators, sensors, or electronic controllers from the Swiss company SAUTER have a significant presence. The new development and production plant is located in Freiburg, Germany.

The SAUTER Group has 26 subsidiaries in Europe and a global network of joint ventures and local representations. Over time, the brand has also expanded into the United Arab Emirates, China, and Korea.
