The company Danfoss was founded by Mads Clausen on September 1, 1933, on his parents' farm in Nordborg, Denmark. At that time, the company was called "Dansk Køleautomatik og Apparatfabrik" (it has borne its current name since 1946) and boasts of having produced some of the first thermostatic expansion valves.
Clausen turned a single valve and an indomitable desire for success into a global company that sets standards for innovation even today. The founder's legacy lives on in Danfoss more than 50 years after his death. Its compressors have gradually expanded worldwide, and Danfoss's current motto is "Industry of Tomorrow."
Engineering solutions aim to contribute to the sustainable development of the planet. The products help not only cities striving to be carbon neutral or in the construction of energy-efficient buildings but also smaller companies, entrepreneurs, and households.
Danfoss in the Czech Republic is divided into several divisions. One of them is the heating technology division, whose portfolio includes radiator fittings, radiator valves for various designs—such as towel rails or designer radiators, electric actuators, differential pressure regulators, or zone valves. The second division is Danfoss Cooling. Thanks to the purchase of a license for hydraulic motors for agricultural machinery (such as combines) in 1961, the hydraulics division was established, supplying hydraulic components for construction and agricultural machinery, as well as other smaller components for industrial production like pressure switches, pressure sensors, or solenoid valves. Seven years later, Danfoss was the first in the world to start serial production of frequency converters, which is part of the last division—Danfoss Drives. The division offers frequency converters with power ranging from 0.18 kW to 1400 kW, as well as other speed control elements.
Danfoss was established in the Czech Republic in January 1993 and has been successful from the start, especially in the heating sector. One of the directions of small domestic regulation is Intelligent Heating for every home, which is now produced by the Danish company under the Danfoss Link brand. Danfoss Link can control, via a web application, for example, underfloor heating (electric, hydronic), radiator thermostatic heads, or switch electrical appliances.
