Control valves are used for regulating the flow of the working medium in heating and cooling system circuits and thus protect pipes and appliances from excessive wear. The most important factor for their selection is the type of medium they work with. For directing the flow of cold and hot water, air, and steam, there are water control valves and steam control valves. Control valves with magnetic drive are suitable for use in applications with mineral oils, diesel fuel, and heat transfer oils, control valves for refrigerants then with ammonia, safety refrigerants, hot gases, and in expansion applications.

Some types allow manual control, but commonly they are controlled by actuators with three-point or continuous control (signal 0 to 10 V). Control valves are maintenance-free and depending on the type of valve, the method of connection to the system varies, however, it is always necessary to connect the valve according to the flow direction, which is marked on the outside of the valve. Mechanical impurities may occur in the working mediums, which can lead to reduced lifespan, decreased functionality, or damage, so we recommend installing a suitable filter before the valve in the circuits to ensure long-term reliable operation.
