During water filtration, water filters capture mechanical impurities as water flows through the filter body. A water filter ensures a continuous supply of filtered water. A fine filter reduces the amount of foreign particles in the water, such as rust fragments or sand grains. Impurities settled at the bottom of the filter vessel can then be easily removed. A water filter typically consists of a housing and a filter cartridge, which may not always be included in the package. Water filters can be categorized by the type of water use into domestic filters for drinking water, rainwater filters, and flanged filters.
Under domestic filters for drinking water fall filters for cold water and filters for hot water. In domestic filters, cleaning is mostly handled by backwashing, eliminating the need to replace the cartridge; instead, you occasionally drain the water with the captured impurities. This type of drinking water filter is suitable for every household and apartment supply pipe and is also used as a well water filter. Some domestic water filters can be upgraded with an automatic backwash unit that cleans the filter at a preset interval for you.
Rainwater filters are used for treating and cleaning rainwater for simple systems where drinking water is not required, such as watering, flushing, washing, and other technical purposes.
Basic filtration of operational substances in pipes is ensured by threaded filters, which effectively capture impurities in the distribution network and thus extend the lifespan of appliances and the pipes themselves.
Flanged water filters are used for cleaning non-aggressive liquids introduced into pipes or fittings. They are intended for industrial use and primarily serve to capture coarser impurities.
Water softeners and treatment plants remove excess minerals, whose increased presence in water causes the formation of so-called limescale and negatively impacts the health and lifespan of appliances.
