Belimo GK actuator for HVAC dampers with an electric fail-safe function based on the capacitor principle. 

Actuator Function

In the event of a power failure, the energy stored in the capacitors rotates the damper to its default position. The fail-safe function principle is therefore different from traditional spring-return actuators.

• The actuator can be operated manually using the locking button. 
• The direction switch changes the actuator's operating direction during normal operation when activated.
• The "fail-safe position" switch allows you to set the desired fail-safe position.

Capacitor Charging

The actuator requires a certain amount of time to charge to operational capacity. The charging time of the actuator depends on the duration of the power disconnection. However, the charging time does not exceed 20 seconds, which corresponds to a power outage of more than 10 days.

The actuator is supplied from the factory completely discharged. For the initial commissioning, it requires approximately 20 seconds of charging for the capacitors to reach the required voltage level.
