Belimo GK actuator for HVAC dampers with electric fail-safe function based on the capacitor principle. The actuator is controlled by a DC 0-10V signal. Feedback is in the range of 2-10V.

Actuator Functions

In the event of a power failure, the damper is rotated to its default position by the energy stored in the capacitors. The fail-safe function principle is therefore different from traditional spring-return actuators.

• The actuator can be operated manually using the locking button. 
• The direction switch changes the actuator's operating direction during normal operation when activated.
• The "fail-safe position" switch - allows setting the desired fail-safe position.

Capacitor Charging

The actuator requires a certain amount of time to charge to operational capacity. The charging time of the actuator depends on the duration of the power disconnection. However, the charging time does not exceed 20 seconds, which corresponds to a power outage of more than 10 days.

The actuator is supplied from the factory completely discharged. For initial commissioning, it requires approximately 20 seconds of charging for the capacitors to reach the required voltage level.
