The valve is fitted with a TORK SR single-acting pneumatic actuator, which provides:
- Reliability with spring return in the event of air supply failure.
- Optimised performance with low air consumption.
- Compact design for easy integration into the system.
Single-acting pneumatic actuators use compressed air to drive the valve movement in only one direction (opening or closing). A spring is used to return the actuator to its default position. When air is supplied to the actuator, the valve, for example, opens, and when the air is disconnected it automatically returns to its original (closed) position due to the spring force. This type of actuator is ideal for applications where, for safety reasons, an automatic valve response is required in the event of power loss. They are widely used in various industries thanks to their reliability and simplicity.
SIL certification
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) issued the IEC 61108 standard, which defines safety requirements.
For equipment to obtain SIL certification, it must meet all defined requirement categories; for example, SIL 3 allows the possibility of a dangerous product failure only once every 1,140 years, reflecting a very high level of reliability.
Actuator options
On request, valves can be supplied fitted with pneumatic actuators:
- With ATEX certification
- With PTFE coating
- Arctic version down to -60°C
- 3-point control
