Gas detection for boiler rooms

The purpose of the gas detection system in the boiler room is to ensure effective protection against the explosion of flammable gases and poisoning caused by the leakage of toxic gases. The gases that may leak in the boiler room include methane, propane-butane, and especially carbon monoxide. If a leak of flammable or other hazardous gas is detected, the control unit should automatically cut off the gas supply to the building. The detector placed above the boiler must be functional and properly calibrated. Incorrect operation of equipment in boiler rooms, their faults, or inaccurate installation can cause the emission of exhaust gases into the atmosphere, which contain deadly and unfortunately odourless carbon monoxide, which even in low concentrations can lead to serious poisoning or even loss of life. Therefore, gas detection in the boiler room is an effective way of protection against its harmful effects. The fastest warning of danger is possible when the detector is installed in the boiler room precisely where there is a high risk of significant gas accumulation – at a distance of about 1-3 meters from the potential source. If their concentration rises to a dangerous level, the device triggers an alarm in the form of an audible signal, a visual signal, or both simultaneously (depending on the chosen model).
